Do You Sing? Join the Somerset Community Choir family for the Fall 2007 Season
The Somerset Community Choir is open to adult community members. Participation is free. There are no dues or registration fees and the music will be provided. Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Somerset Community College’s Stoner Hall, Room 102, a recently-refurbished, state-of-the-art, choral rehearsal room. Rehearsals begin Monday, Aug. 13.
Somerset Community Choir rehearses and performs with Somerset Community College’s College Chorus, performing both accompanied and a cappella choral repertoire from the Renaissance through the Twentieth century. The group’s December concert will feature an eclectic and gorgeous Christmas choral repertoire. In addition to great choral pieces and member solos, there will be an audience sing-a-long of familiar carols. The fall season will also include an exciting performance of Broadway music in November.
“We strive for excellence in choral artistry, while having a great time making beautiful music together,” said Bob Hekel, the SCC Music Director. “The intent is to grow musically, aesthetically and intellectually as we reach our performance goal of excellence by combining beautiful vocal tone with superior choral artistry. Solo opportunities are available.”
Somerset Community Choir/SCC College Chorus has an established reputation for choral excellence. All concerts since the choir’s debut in December’04 have culminated in standing ovations.
“Come join us!” Hekel said.
