The Somerset Community College Chorus, the Vocal Ensemble and the Somerset Community Choir will present the second annual A Taste of Broadway on Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Meece Auditorium on the SCC Somerset Campus.
The evening will feature a brand new repertoire of Broadway choruses, solos, duets and trios. The evening will also feature delicious desserts and beverages.
Highlights of the program will include music from Oliver, Finian’s Rainbow, Gigi, Pippin, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, The Music Man, Carousel, Fiddler on the Roof, Hairspray, and other great Broadway musicals.
In addition to an evening of Broadway music and desserts, a silent auction will take place during intermission. All proceeds from the auction go towards funding the planned SCC Vocal Ensemble’s return trip to The International Days of Choral Music to be held in Verona, Italy in March 2008. In April of 2006, the SCC Vocal Ensemble returned from the festival with SCC’s first international award, a bronze trophy. This year, the goal is to bring back gold. Items to be auctioned off include paintings of scenes of Venice, hand-made stained glass as well as other original artwork.
Tickets, which include admission, desserts, and beverages, are $10.00.
“As seating is limited and historically the SCC performance of A Taste of Broadway sells out, we suggest obtaining advance tickets,” said Bob Hekel, the SCC Music Director.
Advance tickets can be purchased at Heritage Christian Bookstore on Sallee Street or at the SCC Box Office located in Stoner Hall Room 107. Only cash and checks are accepted. Please make checks payable to SCC Choral Association. For more information, please call the SCC Box Office at (606) 451-6766.
“We cordially invite you to be a part of this wonderful evening,” Hekel said.
