Do you sing? Join the SCC choral family for the Spring 2008 Season
The Somerset Community Choir is open to adult community members. Participation is free. There are no dues or registration fees and the music will be provided. Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Somerset Community College’s Stoner Hall, Room 102, a recently furnished state-of-the-art choral rehearsal room. Rehearsals begin Monday, January 14. Stoner Hall is located on the SCC Somerset Campus.
The Somerset Community Choir rehearses and performs with the Somerset Community College’s College Chorus, a separate group made up exclusively of SCC students. These choral groups perform both accompanied and a cappella choral repertoire from the Renaissance through the Twentieth century.
SCC Music Director Bob Hekel said, “Our spring concert will feature an eclectic and gorgeous choral repertoire. We strive for excellence in choral artistry while having a great time making beautiful music together. The intent is to grow musically, aesthetically and intellectually as we reach our performance goal of excellence by combining beautiful vocal tone with superior choral artistry.”
Hekel added that solo opportunities are available.
Somerset Community Choir/SCC College Chorus has an established reputation for choral excellence. All concerts since the choir’s debut in December’04 have culminated in standing ovations.
“Come join us,” Hekel said.
