International Festival
Thursday, October 18, 2007
The Somerset Community College International Festival is envisioned as a street fair that seeks to celebrate the richness of the world's diverse cultures and promote unity and acceptance in the local community. This mission is accomplished through presenting authentic international cuisine, lively diverse music and visually appealing cultural exhibits. We also promote exploration and learning through a series of educational workshops.
Last year, with the help of our program participants, which included SCC faculty, students, staff, as well as 95 elementary age school children and local residents, we explored various traditions of 20 different cultures/countries (Appalachian, African-American/Soul, Argentina, Bayou, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Iraq, Cuba, India, China, Bavaria, France, Egypt, Venezuela, Kenya, Guatemala, Greece, Korea, and Italy).
The public is invited to all of the following events and admission is free.
