Audition Scoring – Monologue
Dramatic/Comic Monologue
The monologue is meant to judge an auditioner’s ability to perform a solo piece.
Vocal Characterization. How well were vocal choices made to convey the character in the monologue?
Physical Characterization. How well were physical choices made to convey the character in the monologue?
Character Believability. How well were you able to believe that this actor was the character they were performing?
Build up. How well did the piece itself build up to something dramatic?
Dramatic Impact. How effectively did the piece deliver a dramatic impact?
Appropriateness. Was the piece appropriate for the performer? Was it appropriate to the auditioner’s age and type?
Was the piece written for the stage? We discourage songs from any medium other than stage plays. Monologues from film are discouraged.
Was the language appropriate for a piece that will be performed in front of high school students and their parents? We discourage profanity. If profanity is used please give this area a zero.
Overall Rating. The total of all of the above will be used as an overall rating.
