Associate of Arts – Theatre Arts Emphasis

Requirements for Degree

Somerset Community College Theatre offers its majors an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Theatre Arts. This is a preparatory degree that is designed to transfer to a four-year institution. The Associate of Arts degree will allow its recipient to obtain core General Education requirements and successfully complete the pre-major requirements of most four-year colleges in the commonwealth of Kentucky. In order to obtain the A.A. degree with a Theatre Arts emphasis, the recipient will be required to complete the following course checklist:

Core Transfer Component (33 total hours)

Writing/Accessing Information (6 hours)

ENG 101 and ENG 102

Oral Communication (3 hours)

COM 181 or COM 252

Heritage (3 hours)

Humanities (3 hours)

Social Interaction (9 hours) (At least two disciplines)

Science (6 hours) (At least one lab science)

Mathematics (3 hours)

Additional General Education Requirements Beyond the Core Transfer Components (15 hours)
