Somerset High School student Mellissa Schlager placed first in Somerset Community College’s East End Gallery Regional High School Art Exhibit.
As her prize, Schlager was awarded a six hour tuition waver at SCC. Michael Grubb, Somerset High School student, placed second, winning a three hour tuition waver. Kelsey Abney, Southwestern student, placed third, and was awarded a $100.00 in tuition waver.
Each student showed outstanding potential,“ said Darlene Libbey, associate professor of Art. “I look forward to working with each of these students in studio sessions at SCC.
Juror for the competition was Emily Williams, former SCC student. Williams resides in Monticello where she paints and works at Lake Cumberland Winery. The exhibit was sponsored by the East End Gallery Student Council, Lake Cumberland Winery and Cana Vineyards.
