Required Assessments
Academic assessments help identify your current strengths and needs. They help insure that you succeed in your academic goals by placing you in courses that are appropriate for you.
All students who enroll at SCC to earn credit toward a certificate, diploma or degree must demonstrate through the ACT or COMPASS that they have the minimum academic skills essential for success.
The COMPASS is required of all applicants who do not score an 18 or higher on the ACT in reading, English and mathematics. If you have never taken the ACT, the COMPASS will be used for placement.

Additional Assessment Required for Technical Programs
In addition to the COMPASS or ACT, A WorkKeys Assessment is mandatory to receive a degree in one of the technical programs. This exam is required for all diplomas and degrees (with the exception of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science). WorkKeys is a proctored exam. Please contact your Program Coordinator and Assessment Center, either at the Somerset or London Campus, to set up an appointment to take your entrance exam.
At SCC we want you to succeed. Assessements are an important tool in helping you get the most out of your education.
